I haven’t eaten ila asepo in over 3 years cos hubby isn’t a fan. The funny thing is that we usually eat okro and stew but not the combined version. So I figured he just dint like the method used to make ila asepo. But today, I was determined to change his view on the soup. I tweaked the original recipe and made it my way and it turned out better than I had anticipated. Hubby was still not interested after I told him I cooked Ila asepo. I forced him to taste it and he finished my small pot of ila asepo. Trust me…it was that good…even the kids loved it and for me that’s a gold star.
Ingredients:
- Okra
- Red chilli pepper
- Yellow chilli pepper
- Tomato paste
- Salt and seasoning
- Shrimps
- Dry fish
- Smoked fish
- Beef, Shaki and Pomo
- Palmoil
- Onions n garlic
Method:
- Boil the beef, shaki and pomo till soft.
- Soak the dry fish in hot water for to soften the fish or better still add it to the boiling meat after its been cleaned.
- Wash and chop the okro to bits and clean the shrimps and set aside. Please take your time and clean up your shrimps properly.

- When the meat gets soft, add tomato paste, red chilli pepper, shrimps, dry fish, smoked fish, chopped yellow pepper and palm oil to your pot of meat and let it boil for about 3mins and add seasoning if necessary.

- Then add the okro and let it cook for about 5mins…and do not cover the pot so as not to get rid of the elasticity of the soup.

Food is ready!
