Puff Puff (Puffys)

I woke up on Saturday morning thinking of what to make for breakfast. I decided to go for pancakes or eggs but guess what…no eggs! All because I was too lazy to go shopping the day before and to worsen the situation…there was also environmental sanitation…so no place would be opened till 10am. So I decided to go for “puffys”…well that’s what i call puff puff. I had the ingredients and decided to try it out for the first time. I just crossed my fingers and went ahead with the process. Funny enough, it wasn’t as complicated as I thought it would be…and everyone loved it.

Ingredients:
Flour (2 cups)
Sugar (half  cup)
Yeast (1 tea-spoon)
Salt (pinch)
Lukewarm water
Method:
  • Pour the flour, sugar, yeast and salt in an empty bowl
  • Slowly pour some lukewarm water into the bowl while mixing the contents with your hand. The mixture should have a slight weighty feel…and should not run throw your fingers easily. Make sure you whip the dough very well.

  • Then cover the bowl with foil paper and a piece of kitchen cloth and let the dough rise for 45mins to an hr.
  • It should look double its size after 45mins

  • Put a pot on medium heat with oil about  and when its hot start frying. Its better to use a pot or a deep pan and not a frying pan. You will need your oil to be about 4inches high. So start with a little dough to test the heat of the oil. If u drop a piece of dough into the pot…it would drop to the bottom of the pan and pop to the surface in about 5secs or less. So if your dough just sits at the bottom of the pot, then the oil isn’t hot enough.

  • Always flip the puffys so it can get brown on all sides.
