A few days ago a friend of mine sent me a picture of the pizza she made at home. She kept going on and on about how awesome it was and all that...so I decided to give it a shot. It was amazing how easy it was to make this pizza and guess what...nothing beats homemade pizza. Now I must warn you...if pizza happens to be your "kryptonite" or you have no self control...DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MAKE THIS AT HOME. Don't say I dint warn you o! Enjoy :)
Ingredients:
Pizza dough
- 3 ½ cups of flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 1/3 cups of warm water
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 ½ tsp dry yeast
Pizza sauce:
- Tomato paste
- Dried basil, oregano and chilli pepper
- Powdered onions and garlic
- A pinch of salt
- Mozzarella cheese
- Toppings ( Salami, chicken...feel free to add whatever you like )
- Green bell peppers
Method for Pizza dough:
- Activate the yeast by adding sugar and the dry yeast to the warm water and set aside for 5mins.
- Pour in the flour into a bowl, salt and olive oil and mix. Then add the yeast mixture to the flour and mix with your hand for a few mins before transferring it to to work surface to be kneaded.
- Knead the dough for about 12mins till smooth. Flour your work surface so the dough doesn't stick to the surface. I enjoy kneading now...hehe! Lovely way to tone up your arms. When the dough stops sticking to your hands then the dough is ready. If you have a stand mixer just throw all the ingredients in and let the mixer do its thing.
- Transfer the dough into an oiled bowl and also oil the dough so it doesn't dry out while its rising. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth or foil paper and keep in a warm place to rise for an hour or until it has doubled its size.
- While the yeast is rising you can prep the ingredients for the pizza topping. I used salami and some grilled chicken. I also grated some cheese.
- For the tomato sauce...add tomato paste in a bowl and all the herbs and spices to the paste, mix and set aside.
- When your dough has doubled in size, deflate the dough and transfer to your floured work surface.
- Preheat your oven.
- I divided my dough into 2 because I wanted a thin crust pizza. But if you like the regular thick pizza just roll out the whole dough with a rolling pin. Don't forget to consider the size of your oven when rolling the dough.
- Remember...its home made pizza so it doesn't have to be perfect.
- Its best to roll it out on parchment paper or foil paper so its easy to transfer into the oven.
- Layer the dough with the tomato paste

So yummy & mouth watering. Great job!
